As you can probably guess, Advent is an important season for us at this mission parish. The Church sets apart Advent as a time of year when we prepare, prepare for Christmas, prepare for the second coming of Jesus to bring healing and justice to the world, prepare for Christ to enter our lives and neighborhoods. Since we want to see Christ form a community of love and service in Rochester, we are busy preparing the way. We are striving to be Advent people.
What better way to get introduced to our mission parish and the season than to throw a feast. To that end, we are holding an Advent feast to spread the word about the work Christ is doing among us. I am going to tell the story of how God brought us all together and gave us this mission. Fr. Shaun is describing our hopes and plans for the future. God is enriching our lives, strengthening our community, and filling us with a deeper love and appreciation for Christ and the Church. Advent gives us the opportunity to ask folks to join us in prayer, support, and community. Plus, the Mediterranean food will be delicious. And Jonathon Neme of The Great Fiction is leading the music team for the service afterward. So we’re looking forward to that. More than anything, though, we are excited to feast and commune and call folks to join us in preparing the way for the coming of Christ.
We are holding the Advent feast at the American Legion (234 Walnut Drive) in downtown Rochester on November 27th at 5:30 PM. Communion will follow at 7:00 PM at the same location.
It was a wonderful gathering! When is the next even? Who shall we invite? Thank you for spreading His kingdom in such a thoughtful and powerful and selfless way!!
